Respect it!!!

“Each of you should learn to control his own body. Keeping it pure and treating it with respect"
1 Thessalonians 4.4

R E S P E C T! …I always think of the Aretha Franklin song. You better make sure you are getting respect from the people around you. Just yesterday, I thought maybe we should think of this song as an anthem to how WE should be treating ourselves. I’ll share my “ah ha” moment. Yesterday at work there was tons food left over from a meeting, tons of food. Pasta salad swimming in mayo, Caesar salad swimming in dressing, chicken salad, and a giant fruit salad. This huge spread, was leftover and was going to be thrown away. I mentioned to the receptionist that I wish I could take some home, she said, take whatever you like, so I took the entire fruit salad. I didn’t even consider taking or tasting the other food in front of me.

It didn’t even hit me until later that evening, the significance of what took place.

I finally have enough RESPECT for myself and my body to make better choices, and not think of it as a burden, For the last 2 and a half weeks I have been doing really well with my eating and exercising, not succumbing to temptation, and wanting to making smart food choices, even in the face of fattening-delicious goodness.

I realized yesterday, that my long term success will be contingent on the amount of respect I have for my body, and that is incredibly powerful. The relationship you have with your body is just like any relationship you would have with a person, if it is not built on a solid foundation of respect it will be an unhealthy relationship, which will inevitably take a negative toll on your body, mind and spirit.

I just don't understand why dardar waited until I was out of the office to make Cafe Max orders. Stupid dardar and her soggy sandwiches of yesterday. I would've swooped up one of those other salads. Why? Because respecting a milk machine means consuming ridiculous amounts of calories. Thank you milk makers! You are keeping me in the eating business.
