No gym for 30 days, you can’t lose weight like that!!

Let me make something perfectly clear, I HATE THE GYM. I realize that HATE is a strong word, and should be reserved for things that are truly deplorable, i.e., I HATE Terrorists, I HATE people who hurt children, I HATE our country’s dependence of foreign oil, but I really HATE the gym. Last year when I started working out I figured I would grow to love it, but alas, that magic feeling never came. Month after month I would go to the gym 5 or 6 days a week, just hating every moment: the sights, the smells, the sounds, everything!! Everyday around 4:00pm at work I would start to think about the trip to the gym that was imminent and I would start to get a little pissed.

I finally “snapped” on May 29th, after going to the gym, changing clothes, and starting in on my 1 hour of cardio, ten minutes into it, I thought this sucks, I’m out and left. I have never done this before, so I decided I needed a break from the gym. Not a break from exercise, just a respite from the gym. The next day I started my 30 day gym hiatus. Today is Day 16 of the 'break', and I feel great!! I have been walking and swimming and doing weights at my parents’ house, so I am still getting 5 to 6 days of cardio, just in a different environment. Most importantly, I’m still losing weight.

This is just what I needed. Yes, I will go back to the gym, because I need pilates and kickboxing class, but for now I’m loving the break!!!
